The core of the smart farm formation project using new and renewable energies that this company is promoting lies with the ‘plant factory.’ It means an automatic plant cultivation system that forms an optimal artificial environment according to the plant characteristics, and offers the advantage of more stably producing crops regardless of weathers and seasons.
Based on the growth and environmental monitoring, a plant factory system which can help the plants grow has been built. It is a system which can control all conditions needed for the plants’ growth, such as light, temperature, humidity, carbon dioxide concentration, nutrients, and moisture, breaking away from the method of growing crops primarily on the farmland.
Meanwhile, it has focused on exporting auto parts, solar power plants, real estate development, and manufacturing automation facilities. It has harnessed unrivaled technologies for maximizing the energy efficiency and increasing productivity for the process of plant factory operation. The formation of a smart farm using new and renewable energies is expected to replace the existing plant factory system and expand its scope to the sterilization market. It is also expected to replace the imported sterilization equipment in the future and increase the energy efficiency of the cooling system. In order to expand the overseas exports and domestic distribution business full fledgedly, it plans to merge with Woori Community Co., Ltd., a company specialized in the online business, by the end of this year.
Accordingly, the cash flow stabilization and the sales volume expansion could now be expected through the business expansion. Meanwhile, CEO Choi said, “Plant factories are capable of stabilizing the agricultural revenue and producing the customized agricultural products, and so they can promptly respond to the market changes,” and said, “Since it is easy to change the items and facility structure, we will continue to design the new materials based smart farm greenhouses and plant factories with the goal of developing the plastic recycling, heat reinforced new material cover, and the solar powered cooling and heating module system, etc.”
